[Accidental Video/Action] Burn away your sin;
[ The SFC feed flickers on to a ghastly, awful scene.
There is a fire in the lower district, in one of the neighborhood's houses--how it happened is anyone's guess. Most likely an accident from a lit cigarette or what-have-you, but whatever the case...
A young girl is trapped inside. Whoever did it must have been a real psycho, if this was a person, because there's really no way she's going to get out of this mess. A spare SFC records the scene as best it can through the haze of smoke and the heat of flames. She is half-visible at best due to all the things clouding the camera and the extreme heat, and she sounds quite young, dressed in a Sailor Suit uniform--certainly, this girl is no older than 13.
She's burned up to all hell, quite literally--the only thing really untouched is her face and her legs, but that's about to change if she doesn't get out of here. It's a pretty awful sight, looking at her arms and her body where the clothing has been burned straight through to see her flesh red and scorched as she tries so desperately to get out, banging and banging on the door, which is melted shut. Her hands are burned even worse, because of trying to open said melted door's knob. ]
Tatsuya? Tatsuya! Tatsuya, can you hear me?
[ She chokes, sputtering. Tears run down her eyes, but she continues to desperately pound on the door-- ]
You have to get out... g-get... get away from him! Someone, anyone, help him, please... dad... dad! Dad, I don't want us to die this way...
[ The last words are practically a helpless whimper as she falls to the floor, scorched upper body sliding down the only exit, until she is on her knees, cross-legged, slumping.
If someone doesn't help, she'll probably die
I-if anyone can hear me out there... please, save Tatsuya from that madman! Please... I'm begging you, don't worry about me, just save him--save my friend!
[ ... Even then, it seems Maya would always put her friends first. ]
[ OOC: PLEASE READ, this is kind of important.
CURSE TIME: with a twist. Maya's been aged down to back when a certain psycho set a certain place on fire and sliced a certain little boy in the chest. Of course, she wasn't affected when she ran in there
You're free to recognize her, though it'll be a bit hard since she looks kind of different and is sporting those fresh horrific traumatic burns she had from back then, recreated by this fire so very nicely. Whoever's rescuing her: plurk me, we'll work something out.
Both Action and Video/Voice are fine; you don't need my permission for the former, GO NUTS. ]
[2/2]
The doll...that doll, she's seen it before, hasn't she? And not even that long ago.]
H-Hey, where...where did you get that?
no subject
[ That... does help take her mind off things, if briefly. She isn't sure where or what "Vatheon" is, but... ]
It's... my special charm. I made it a long time ago... we got out, huh, bunny? We had a guardian angel, and she must've brought you to help us...
[ Her words are still a bit shaky, but she manages a weak smile toward the rabbit, and to Yukari. ]
no subject
She doesn't remember if that's what Maya called hers, but the coincidence is uncanny. And now that she gets a better look, her face is awfully familiar somehow...
Yukari kind of lets a nervous laugh at the guardian angel comment, as they make their way away from the scene.]
I don't know about all that. But he looks exactly like the one my friend Maya has...
no subject
You know another Maya? Do I have a doppelgänger...? This reminds me... of the poem... do you know it? "Der Doppelgänger". It's one of my favorites...
[ She's still weak, but at the very least, she is managing to put on a cheerful front. Nice distraction, Yukari. Even as she hurts and as they're moving, she quotes from memory with such emphasis and zest that you'd think she was reading lines. ]
"The Moon reveals to me my own likeness... You Doppelgänger, you pale companion! Why do you mock my love-sickness so? That tormented me at this place, so many long nights ago?"
no subject
Wow, that settles it then, huh. The way she quotes the poem and tries to stay strong. She's one of the cursed...she's younger now, and obviously she doesn't remember Yukari at all. Just like Minato and the others...
She listens to her quotation, though really all she can think about how different she looks now, and how scared she must have been.
Don't worry. Even if it is a distraction, she hasn't forgotten about how much pain she's in. And she certainly doesn't fail to notice that it must be a front. She's always acting cheerful like that...
Positive thinking, right?]
...Yeah. I have heard that before, actually.
[She was the one who told her about it.]
My name's Yukari.
no subject
Nice to meet you...
[ And it's occurs to her that this girl is obviously older than her, so--that makes her a senior to her, right? ]
Um... Yukari-senpai, right? I'm sorry for all the trouble... but... where are we...?
no subject
How strange, coming from her. But she shakes her head, and doesn't let it bother her. She's glad to have an opportunity to help Maya for a change, after all.]
Right. L-Like I was saying before, we're in a city called Vatheon.
[...]
...Some strange things have been happening, so...I know you must have questions, but let's focus on getting you to the clinic for now. [a smile] It's...not that much further.
[She can see the building now, actually.]
no subject
B-but, how did I get here--I'm... am I dreaming? One minute I was in the Shrine, a-and then there was this... this boy, he... he hurt Ta-chan, and... I think he was a Sevens student but he was crazy...
[ She shakes her head, frowning a bit. ]
I just... I don't think I could live with myself if he was hurt...
no subject
Heh, some days, it really does feel like that. She's mentioned Tatsuya before, so she's kind of assuming that's who she's talking about at the moment--though she has no idea of the history the two have. This must be a very traumatic moment in her life.
Figures she would revert to it.]
...I wish I could explain it, but it's not a dream. And I definitely didn't see anyone else with you, so...I don't think you have to worry about anyone else, for now.
[There's...nothing she can do about whatever situation she's remembering back at home, anyway.]
We can let the locals handle the fire while you rest up a bit.
[...that's right. She's got her Evoker, doesn't she? She could heal her...
Agh, but that would probably scare her even more, summoning Isis like that. Besides, they're approaching the clinic now...]
no subject
The pain is kind of overwhelming and she's having a hard time keeping her mind off it. Her arms and hands and her torso are badly burned.
...
On notice, it is obvious that this was not coincidence. It may be best to ask her what was going on while she still remembers. She just looks away, muttering.
The only thing that's heard out of her mouth as she clutches her little rabbit closer is a muted "dad". ]
no subject
'Dad.'
Perhaps she hadn't thought to ask about exactly why she remembers what she does about her friends in the fire--about what was going on in that mind of hers. Perhaps she simply thought it would be more prudent to save her life, before having her strain on answering such minute details...
But now--
Now her priorities have shifted slightly.]
...Dad?
no subject
...
But it's with reluctance that she speaks, tone quiet and sad. ]
H-he used to take me to that shrine to pray.
[ She misses him, so much. It just felt like he was her superhero, or something; that if he were just here, everything would have been okay. ]
My friends, they... they didn't mean to lock me in there, though, I just... I just hope they're okay. They didn't know any better...
no subject
Is...is that really the last thing you remember?
[Oh, Maya.
Yukari misses her father, too...just as much. She misses the way he talked to her, his voice, his everything; and she lost track how many nights she fell asleep, waiting for him to come home. This isn't the time and place for her issues, though...
But maybe they can talk about it later, if it'll help. She's going to need some sort of place to stay until this 'Curse' ends.
...It must be affecting her, too.]
