[Accidental Video/Action] Burn away your sin;
[ The SFC feed flickers on to a ghastly, awful scene.
There is a fire in the lower district, in one of the neighborhood's houses--how it happened is anyone's guess. Most likely an accident from a lit cigarette or what-have-you, but whatever the case...
A young girl is trapped inside. Whoever did it must have been a real psycho, if this was a person, because there's really no way she's going to get out of this mess. A spare SFC records the scene as best it can through the haze of smoke and the heat of flames. She is half-visible at best due to all the things clouding the camera and the extreme heat, and she sounds quite young, dressed in a Sailor Suit uniform--certainly, this girl is no older than 13.
She's burned up to all hell, quite literally--the only thing really untouched is her face and her legs, but that's about to change if she doesn't get out of here. It's a pretty awful sight, looking at her arms and her body where the clothing has been burned straight through to see her flesh red and scorched as she tries so desperately to get out, banging and banging on the door, which is melted shut. Her hands are burned even worse, because of trying to open said melted door's knob. ]
Tatsuya? Tatsuya! Tatsuya, can you hear me?
[ She chokes, sputtering. Tears run down her eyes, but she continues to desperately pound on the door-- ]
You have to get out... g-get... get away from him! Someone, anyone, help him, please... dad... dad! Dad, I don't want us to die this way...
[ The last words are practically a helpless whimper as she falls to the floor, scorched upper body sliding down the only exit, until she is on her knees, cross-legged, slumping.
If someone doesn't help, she'll probably die
I-if anyone can hear me out there... please, save Tatsuya from that madman! Please... I'm begging you, don't worry about me, just save him--save my friend!
[ ... Even then, it seems Maya would always put her friends first. ]
[ OOC: PLEASE READ, this is kind of important.
CURSE TIME: with a twist. Maya's been aged down to back when a certain psycho set a certain place on fire and sliced a certain little boy in the chest. Of course, she wasn't affected when she ran in there
You're free to recognize her, though it'll be a bit hard since she looks kind of different and is sporting those fresh horrific traumatic burns she had from back then, recreated by this fire so very nicely. Whoever's rescuing her: plurk me, we'll work something out.
Both Action and Video/Voice are fine; you don't need my permission for the former, GO NUTS. ]
video;
Yeah she's already jumping out the window, what of it.]
Hey hey hey! Stay on the line! Calm down, I'm on my way.
Stay close to the ground, get away from the door. I might have to bust it down.
[Action girl to the rescue.]
action;
Heck, she isn't even sure where the voice is coming from, but... ]
There's a phone in here somewhere?! Listen, there's a little boy--y-you have to help him first, he might die!
[ A cough. ]
video -> action;
[And she'll be very insistent about this, yet she seems to be pre-occupied with something else for a second on the phone, but at least there's a reason for it.]
I've called for help. You'll be alright. We'll come get you.
[Though she stays on the line for the entire time, it isn't that long at all as she was able to find the building from the smoke.]
Just stay close to the ground and away from the door- you'll be fine! And so will your friend.
[and she's just gonna try to run in if there's nothing stopping her-]
action; yo
At least....he tries. But he doesn't get there fast enough, and she's already run in by the time he makes it there.
alksndlas. SIGH.]
Saya! Maya!
[.....]
Maybe it has something to do with your names...
[And then he runs in after them, because he's not going to let Saya have all of the fun.]
action; hi how's it going
Also? The SFC's feed is getting pretty bad, it's not going to take much more heat, either.
Her Persona quietly shields her, the only thing keeping her alive at the moment--in fact, you can probably see some light coming from under the crack of a door, and hear the voice of an older woman, but who? It's certainly not Maya. ]
This way.
Damn it!
[But he is moving to find that building, though he does talk to the girl--]
He'll be fine! Listen to me, Maya--Stay close to the ground. Do you know where you are?
Probably not. She doesn't even know where the voice is coming from, until she grapples for the SFC through the smoke and flames, doing as instructed, staying low. ]
I--it's the shrine, isn't it? Are you in the city? Araya... h-he...
[ She is literally running out of air here. If she'd been aware she could have used her Persona to escape, but... she isn't. She feels groggy. ]
Action
Hey!
[Go, Sa, somebody, his voice sounds weird. All higher-pitched like that.]
Are you still in there? Can you hear me?
Action
There's more banging, but she stays close to the ground. She can't see him, he has to be safe... ]
I can, but... you've got to get away from here, he's still out there, you have to help my friend!
[ In actuality, Maya isn't aware this isn't her home. She isn't aware this fire was not caused by a maniac teenager, or that Tatsuya's not been hurt. ]
Action
[He takes a breath he doesn't need and just enters into the building through one of the open windows, the fire lazily licking at his clothes without even burning him. He sees Maya cowering in the corner and approaches her.]
Someone's in bad shape...
[And without her speaking, he'll just pick her up in his arms and kick open the door to the place to leave. RESCUE OPERATION SUCCESS?]
Action
Still, she's... really badly burned. Like, major burns here, we're talking. Yet she doesn't make a noise the entire time, merely biting her lips worriedly.
It seems like whoever HAD been in the building she saved before whatever happened. ]
G... Grazie, Mister...
[ But she's concerned and her surroundings, why are they so off--she's still horribly shaken, though, otherwise she'd have said more. In fact, she's terrified to the point of near muteness.
The burns hurt and she isn't sure what to do, right now... if Tatsuya was dead, she'd never forgive herself. All she really wanted was her father... why was this happening? ]
no subject
That's why she's running towards that burning building. She had no time to think, to call anyone else who might be of help. Because just then is when she hears the little girl, screaming.]
H-Hey!! If you can hear me in there, I-I'm gonna try to get you out! Both of you--
[Yukari doesn't even get a chance to ask about the condition of her friend or who this madman is. She's coughing the closer she gets to the door, the smoke and heat getting worse with each step...]
no subject
You're really going to have to hurry, Yukari. ]
It's... it's okay, I-I think he's outside the shrine... both of them, I... I think...
[ Coughing, she's been in the smoke too long, and her voice is weak. She's literally got next to no air left. Luckily for her, the only thing that could help in this situation, Maia, her Persona, is shielding her as best it can. She falls silent, trying to stay low to the ground, remembering what they'd taught her about disasters in school.
Was she really going to die like this? Would her mother lose her, too? Maybe she deserved this for lying to her friends. She doesn't really know, but her mind is foggy and she doesn't have the strength to keep shouting or making noise. ]
no subject
[More coughing. The smoke is getting particularly bad now, and she tries to look through it, look all around her for this shrine. She's not sure what she's talking about...she doesn't even know the girl's name. But she shakes her head though, as if trying to clear it--
Because right now, she has to save her first. Everything else could wait...]
Hold on!!
[And she's going to start slamming into the door, trying to break it down. It takes her a few tries--she's small, not built like her senpai. But she comes crashing in, coughing some more--
Praying that Isis would protect her.
Protect both of them...]
I-I'm inside now! Hey--
[Aaahhh, there she is...oh god. Rushing over there before the fire gets worse and blocks their exit.]
Let's hurry!
wow I lack icons of her tiny, oh well ~pretend~
There's a flustered cough--what about Tatsuya? But she does her best, despite the burns all over her upper body.
... It takes them a bit to get out, but it seems like she only just manages before weakly falling to her knees outside, coughing. She's covered in ash, and has seen far better days. ]
G... grazie...
[ That's all she manages to get out, before the impact of their surroundings hits her. Where... was she? It takes her a minute, to take in that... this isn't... where she was. ]
W-where... how did I get here? This isn't... you haven't seen a little boy with red hair around, have you? N-no, this is all my fault...
i think we've mastered the art of pretending by now ;)
But she'd said Tatsuya before, hadn't she? Yukari is coughing as she tries to think--words are all starting to blend together, and she's just happy they were able to get out. When she finally regains control of herself somewhat, she looks around...
Both for this 'shrine,' and for red hair, since she mentioned it.]
I...
[...A--
A little boy?]
No. I-I'm sorry, I only saw you... [And she didn't hear anyone else cry out, or see anyone else. It seemed totally abandoned...] W-We should get a bit further away. We're still not safe...
[She glances back.
Not to rush or anything, but...there would be time to sort out everything later.]
we really have.
...
She'll... probably need help to walk, Yukari. Though there's a certain stuffed bunny in her hand that seems to have miraculously survived along with her. It's pretty beat up.
It might even look familiar: you've probably seen Maya toting it around. ]
Oh...
[ ... ;; She's having trouble standing, it might be from the shock, though. She certainly seems very, very out of it, her pink eyes seem kind of glazed, like they're somewhere else. ]
... Sorry, I... it's just--are you sure... you didn't see anyone else? Ta-chan was with me, and I--I don't think... I didn't think that boy would...
[ She's already cried, but it looks like she's still trying to be strong again, to hold back the tears and not mention that she hurts or is weak herself. ]
[1/2]
[Oh boy. It's starting to become clear to her that this is not what the girl was expecting, and she is not where she thought she was.
And yes...yes, Yukari can definitely tell, she'll need all the help she can get. She was just about to pull out her SFC to contact someone to take care of the fire, but--
Seeing others finally start to notice and help allows her room to breathe a bit. Let out a sigh.
Yukari walks over to help support her and make sure she doesn't collapse as she stands. And she'll start to lead her to the clinic, because that's the first place she thinks of...and luckily it's...well, not all that far away, all things considered.]
You're in Vatheon now. I know it's probably confusing, but--
[2/2]
The doll...that doll, she's seen it before, hasn't she? And not even that long ago.]
H-Hey, where...where did you get that?
no subject
[ That... does help take her mind off things, if briefly. She isn't sure where or what "Vatheon" is, but... ]
It's... my special charm. I made it a long time ago... we got out, huh, bunny? We had a guardian angel, and she must've brought you to help us...
[ Her words are still a bit shaky, but she manages a weak smile toward the rabbit, and to Yukari. ]
no subject
She doesn't remember if that's what Maya called hers, but the coincidence is uncanny. And now that she gets a better look, her face is awfully familiar somehow...
Yukari kind of lets a nervous laugh at the guardian angel comment, as they make their way away from the scene.]
I don't know about all that. But he looks exactly like the one my friend Maya has...
no subject
You know another Maya? Do I have a doppelgänger...? This reminds me... of the poem... do you know it? "Der Doppelgänger". It's one of my favorites...
[ She's still weak, but at the very least, she is managing to put on a cheerful front. Nice distraction, Yukari. Even as she hurts and as they're moving, she quotes from memory with such emphasis and zest that you'd think she was reading lines. ]
"The Moon reveals to me my own likeness... You Doppelgänger, you pale companion! Why do you mock my love-sickness so? That tormented me at this place, so many long nights ago?"
no subject
Wow, that settles it then, huh. The way she quotes the poem and tries to stay strong. She's one of the cursed...she's younger now, and obviously she doesn't remember Yukari at all. Just like Minato and the others...
She listens to her quotation, though really all she can think about how different she looks now, and how scared she must have been.
Don't worry. Even if it is a distraction, she hasn't forgotten about how much pain she's in. And she certainly doesn't fail to notice that it must be a front. She's always acting cheerful like that...
Positive thinking, right?]
...Yeah. I have heard that before, actually.
[She was the one who told her about it.]
My name's Yukari.
no subject
Nice to meet you...
[ And it's occurs to her that this girl is obviously older than her, so--that makes her a senior to her, right? ]
Um... Yukari-senpai, right? I'm sorry for all the trouble... but... where are we...?
no subject
How strange, coming from her. But she shakes her head, and doesn't let it bother her. She's glad to have an opportunity to help Maya for a change, after all.]
Right. L-Like I was saying before, we're in a city called Vatheon.
[...]
...Some strange things have been happening, so...I know you must have questions, but let's focus on getting you to the clinic for now. [a smile] It's...not that much further.
[She can see the building now, actually.]
no subject
B-but, how did I get here--I'm... am I dreaming? One minute I was in the Shrine, a-and then there was this... this boy, he... he hurt Ta-chan, and... I think he was a Sevens student but he was crazy...
[ She shakes her head, frowning a bit. ]
I just... I don't think I could live with myself if he was hurt...
no subject
Heh, some days, it really does feel like that. She's mentioned Tatsuya before, so she's kind of assuming that's who she's talking about at the moment--though she has no idea of the history the two have. This must be a very traumatic moment in her life.
Figures she would revert to it.]
...I wish I could explain it, but it's not a dream. And I definitely didn't see anyone else with you, so...I don't think you have to worry about anyone else, for now.
[There's...nothing she can do about whatever situation she's remembering back at home, anyway.]
We can let the locals handle the fire while you rest up a bit.
[...that's right. She's got her Evoker, doesn't she? She could heal her...
Agh, but that would probably scare her even more, summoning Isis like that. Besides, they're approaching the clinic now...]
no subject
The pain is kind of overwhelming and she's having a hard time keeping her mind off it. Her arms and hands and her torso are badly burned.
...
On notice, it is obvious that this was not coincidence. It may be best to ask her what was going on while she still remembers. She just looks away, muttering.
The only thing that's heard out of her mouth as she clutches her little rabbit closer is a muted "dad". ]
no subject
'Dad.'
Perhaps she hadn't thought to ask about exactly why she remembers what she does about her friends in the fire--about what was going on in that mind of hers. Perhaps she simply thought it would be more prudent to save her life, before having her strain on answering such minute details...
But now--
Now her priorities have shifted slightly.]
...Dad?
no subject
...
But it's with reluctance that she speaks, tone quiet and sad. ]
H-he used to take me to that shrine to pray.
[ She misses him, so much. It just felt like he was her superhero, or something; that if he were just here, everything would have been okay. ]
My friends, they... they didn't mean to lock me in there, though, I just... I just hope they're okay. They didn't know any better...
no subject
Is...is that really the last thing you remember?
[Oh, Maya.
Yukari misses her father, too...just as much. She misses the way he talked to her, his voice, his everything; and she lost track how many nights she fell asleep, waiting for him to come home. This isn't the time and place for her issues, though...
But maybe they can talk about it later, if it'll help. She's going to need some sort of place to stay until this 'Curse' ends.
...It must be affecting her, too.]
