[ Have a perky journalist, guys. She's smiling at the screen. ]

Seems like the influx of newcomers has stopped as predicted, huh? I'd like to take the time to say "hi!" to everyone here, new and old, if we haven't already met. I'm Maya Amano, and it's nice to meet you! Things can get a little hectic here, though it's mostly a nice peaceful place, so don't worry! We'll get through this together.

[ Moving topics, she holds up what appears to be a magazine cover. The words "COOLEST" are on the front in English, and at the bottom is a little "Kismet Publishing". ]

Right! And on that note... news. Yes, that's right, this journalist is looking for her first big scoop~! If you guys have anything you think is news-worthy, call your Ace Reporter, and I'll be there in a zip, okay?

[ Have a little silly salute as she continues on. ]

I'm currently looking for stories to collect, so if any of you guys would like to tell me about yourselves, your home world, what you do, or especially about any dreams you have of the future, I might feature you in Coolest's first issue, next month! Or I may even save your story for another issue. I'm aiming for everyone to get to know each other better on top of learn about Vatheon here itself with my magazine, so I want to do a spotlight column on all of us foreigners. I don't care about what you did back home, even if you were what you'd consider "ordinary" or not!

Because "ordinary" is really only a few letters away from "extraordinary", don't you think?

[ Putting the magazine away, the camera focuses on Maya, who is jokingly holding and smiling over a microphone in her hand. ]

Doesn't matter the topic you're comfortable talking about, Vatheon! Go ahead and tell me, because you're all live with Maya now! I hope we can all get to know each other and have some fun along the way. Cheers!

[ And then the feed cuts with a wink and grin. ]

[ There is a short pause, before she makes another call. Akihiko was gone from the dorms, as she'd noticed. ]

Hey, everyone. I heard your senpai went back... I know I haven't gotten the chance to meet and talk to all of you just yet in SEES. There's Haruka-chan and Ken-kun and Junpei-kun along with Mina-chin and Yukari-chan, right? I know you guys have inducted some new members, too. But if you guys need anything, don't hesitate to talk to me! As a fellow Persona user and an adult with personal experience on this sort of thing... I'd be happy just to listen, if you want. Maya's got your back! All of you.

[ FILTERED TO THE INVESTIGATION TEAM; 80% UNHACKABLE ]

[ To the Persona 4 cast, including Souji and Kanji and Naoto, Maya gives a happy little wave, now. ]

I heard from the grapevine you guys are from Inaba... and you know the Gekkoukan kids, from Tatsumi Port Island? You met recently, right? So you guys can also use a Persona? If you don't mind, I'd really love to talk to all of you in person! Ciao~ ♥

Okay, Maya-san then. [ Ah, whoops, how rude of him not to say it before. ] And my name's Souji Seta. Sorry for not mentioning it before, and it's nice to meet you.

[ DRAGGING YOU TOWARDS THE RESTAURANT NOW. Who is excited for good crab? Maya is. ]

[ Oh wow, it's like Chie and her wallet-attacking meat obsession. Souji tries not to trip over his feet by accident while being dragged along. ]

[ SHE'S NOT THAT BAD. Just a little gung-ho.

Very much. In fact, she drags him all the way there. Well, gently leads him. She's excited! Another Persona user~!

Once they're inside the place and seated (yeah, she took Souji all the way across town...), Maya grins at him. ]

Why don't you tell me about you yourself, Souji-kun? How'd you end up with the power of Persona? I'm willing to bet it wasn't from playing a game called "Persona-sama," though.

[ Since it seemed like she was the only one who got it that way... ]

[ They've barely started talking about Persona and Souji's already feeling a little tired. Ah, such is life. ]

"Persona-sama"?

[ Nope, never heard of it! But he continues on to answer her question. ]

Well, my awakening is different from most of the other Persona-users I know... Technically, I got mine during a handshake. But I didn't actually summon mine right away.

... A handshake, huh? What, did you meet Philemon and shake hands with him?

[ She giggles. ]

Did you know there's actually, by my count, at least groups of Persona users scattered across Japan? Technically speaking, the first ever group seems to have appeared in Mikage-cho!

Then there's our group from Sumaru where I'm from, Mina-chin's from Port Island, and you guys from Inaba!

The group from my city and the guys from Mikage-cho all gained their Personas by reciting an incantation and playing a game. It's called "Persona-sama". I was taught it was an incantation to be able to see what your future self will be like, but... it seems to grant you the power of Persona instead.

Izanami disguised as a gas station attendant actually.

[ For a moment, Souji's smile looks a little wry, which is quickly replaced by an attentive look as he quietly listens to what she says, only speaking once it seems like she's finished for the moment. ]

I see... I've never heard of that rumor before. That makes me wonder how it first spread.

[ And how many people who got their Persona that way are around places other than Mikage-cho and Sumaru too, while he's at it. Definitely something to look up one day. ]

By the way, who's Philemon?

... Wait, you mean the Goddess from Yomi? That's crazy! I wonder if a rumor made her exist...

[... Somehow Maya understands the wryness, but decides not to mention it. ]

Oh, Souji-kun! I thought... well, Philemon resides in the collective unconscious. He... grants people the power of Persona. He's a powerful being, but he has no control over our world. He can't directly interfere, so he has Igor and the people from the Velvet Room help us out through him.

Have you ever seen a butterfly around that was a little odd?

I think she's been there all along. I'm not the only one she gave the power of Persona to.

[ She's Izanami after all, she must be older than the oldies. ]

I see... The Velvet Room? So you know Igor and Margaret then. [ For a moment he starts to make a comment about Igor's nose but decides to drop it. ] I'm sorry to say that I've never met him.

And yes, I do see butterflies that look odd around once in a while. They never did anything though. Why?

[ ... SNERK. She would have too, but it's better they don't pick on the guy who summons their Personas and fuses them. ]

Margaret...? Oh, no, I've never met her. You guys ARE a little ahead of us by... mm... ten years or so! But Igor-san, the Demon Artist, Nameless the piano man and Belladonna are the people my group is familiar with.

[ She looks thoughtful, but then she continues anyway. The waiter comes by, and Maya places her order, as well as one for an iced tea. When he's gone, she picks up where she left off. ] Well, that was probably him! Philemon's symbol is a butterfly. It's how he's always appeared to us before we lost consciousness and spoke to him in his world... he granted us our first Personas, then the Custom ones... and now their evolutions.

But our ability is closer to yours, Souji-kun. We can all use different Personas... several of them at a time, and we share them between our group. Except for our original and special ones, of course. Only Yukki could use Maia...

[ Quite. Or else he might peck them with that nose. ]

I've never heard of them... I wonder if that means they left too.

[ Like Margaret's sister. Maybe something like that happened to them too? With that on his mind, Souji places an order for coffee at the same time. ]

Hmm... I've never heard of Custom Personae, but our Persona can evolve. Mine's evolved last. [ He looks a little surprised when she gets to the part where they all had Wild Card abilities, but says nothing about it. It's probably because of the time period or how they received their Personae anyway, ] And that means all of you also had access to the Velvet Room too, right?

That's right! Mina-chin has the same ability as you do, so I'm familiar with it. To be honest, if he hadn't explained to me it's normally for people to only use their original Persona and it's evolution... I might have gone on thinking that everyone used different Personae.

[ There is a 'hmm' here. ]

But that's right, all of us usually went in there together. Of course, each of us have varying affinities for different Arcana... Maia was always Moon to begin with for me, so I work best with those types. Some types I don't work that well with and I can't use them very effectively.

I didn't even realize there were other Persona users until I came here actually. Not that I didn't think it was possible, but still.

[ And top of that, they all got theirs differently. Who knew? ]

I see...I was the only one who could see and enter the Room. I could also use any Persona I had access to well enough, but my starting Persona, Izanagi, was of the Fool Arcana, and I always kept him around.

How strange! But to be honest, until I heard from Yukki-chan, Maki-chan, and Eriko-chan about the St. Hermelin Persona users in Mikage-cho, I had thought the same thing...

[ There is a pause here. ... And then food is acquired, so she, of course, eats first before continuing. She does have enough manners to not talk with her mouth full, but still. ]

I wonder if there's more of us scattered across the globe...? Since, well, there's so many of our groups around Japan, y'know? It's really something I wish I could look into.

[ ... Oh! She had to be careful. Souji... he doesn't know she's dead. Oops. ]

W-well, I mean, we're kind of stuck here right now...

I guess it isn't something that crosses people's minds. At least, not for a while.

[ And with that, Souji starts finishing what he ordered -- compliments to the chef. Of course, he only starts taking bites after Maya starts eating. But Souji looks up from his food once she starts talking again, listening quietly at first. He then nods before throwing in his thoughts about it. ]

That's a possibility. Since I'm supposed to be moving from Inaba, it'd be a good chance for me to look around in other places. Just in Japan though, since I'm pretty sure my parents weren't asking me to leave the country.

[ Otherwise they'd ask his uncle to watch him for another year. But he digresses. ]

As for other countries... I'd have to think more about how we could find other Persona-users there.

[ It's not exactly feasible for someone his age to go around the globe on a search like that. And that's ignoring the money issue, amongst other problems. ]

[ A laugh, here. ]

It'd be nice if I could maybe get a reporting job out of the country, but I'm kind of small-time right now. Though, hard work means hard payoff! You never know, Souji-kun! I bet if we looked, we could find ways to contact one another.

[ She takes a bite of her crab thoughtfully, pausing to consider. ]

What d'you think of sensing others? Our group can feel another Persona user's resonance... and read it. Our Personas talk to us, they feel things... like feeling scared, or feeling safe, or telling me when the group I'm with are good kids deep down.

If we traveled some, I think it'd be easier... but I'm not millionaire! I can barely afford my own clothing...

[ A-ahahaha and she's also dead. ): ]

Right, I'm sure we can too. It can't be too hard if we try.

[ Souji nods in agreement before waiting for her to speak again. ]

For me, different Persona react to different people depending on their Arcana. They like giving me a push towards people they're interested in. And I can always feel and hear them around, though I can't say I can feel another Persona user's resonance.

Me neither. We'll just have to find another cost-effective way then, right?

[ Sob, Maya-nee... ;o; ]

Or wait for them to show up here! We should all just get together and have a big Persona user party or something!

[ SHE IS COMPLETELY SERIOUS. ]

[ IT SOUNDS TOTALLY AWESOME TO HIM. ]

Hahaha, that's one way to get everyone together! I wonder which restaurants would be big enough for a gathering like that?
